We are pleased to announce and are honored to have the opportunity to partner with the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado where some of our LED products have been installed in the Alliance offices. This partnership will allow visitors to see firsthand one aspect of an overall Green Building design and LEED strategy.
About The Alliance for Sustainable Colorado:
The mission of Alliance for Sustainable Colorado is to advance sustainability through collaboration among nonprofit, business, government and education. We are working to advance economic, environmental, and social sustainability in Colorado by building cross-sector alliances and networks.
Our vision of a sustainable Colorado is a state which:
- Respects the earth's biological and natural systems and the limits of the planet's finite resources
- Measures profitability not just in dollars, but in quality of life and equality of opportunity
- Builds community across political, racial, economic, social, and educational boundaries
Alliance for Sustainable Colorado pursues sustainability through three integrated program areas that work together to redefine our future to one that values economic, environmental and social well being.
Alliance Center
A living example of green building and collaboration at work
This double LEED certified historic building (built in 1908) provides below-market rent and operational support to 35 nonprofit organizations all focused on sustainability policies and practices.
Education
Creating relationships that accelerate results
The Alliance brings together an extensive statewide network of community leaders in conversations about best policies and practices of sustainability. Through regional roundtable meetings, educational events, and informational resources, our efforts combine the wisdom and lessons of all participants to turn barriers into solutions — from local food production, recycling, renewable energy financing, efficient zoning codes, to green jobs training.
Public Policy
Catalyzing Systemic Change
The Alliance advocates for policy shifts across Colorado by initiating legislation, energizing coalitions, sharing information, and arranging expert testimony to enable widespread change.
About LEED Certification:
LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
LEED is flexible enough to apply to all building types – commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, tenant fitout, and significant retrofit. And LEED for Neighborhood Development extends the benefits of LEED beyond the building footprint into the neighborhood it serves.
