Some types of LED's, such as LED Strip Lights are low-voltage light sources and require a constant DC voltage or current to operate properly. Because they operate on a low-voltage of either 12v or 24v depending on the type of LED utilized, it is necessary to drive the LED's with an LED power supply designed to reduce the normal incomming 120v mains voltage down to 12v or 24v to regulate the current that flows through the LED's during it's operation. Therefore, this LED Driver is necessary to convert 120V 60 Hz AC power to the required 12 Volt or 24 volt DC power that is required by the LEDs and protects them from fluctuations in the line-voltage current.
